A 43-year-old Maldivian man, Hassan Shuhail, was found dead in a hotel room in Bengaluru, India, on Wednesday.

According to Indian newspapers, Shuhail had not left his hotel room at the scheduled checkout time, prompting the establishment to inform the police. The police were contacted after repeated calls to his room went unanswered. When the police opened the door to his room, he was found lying on the floor, unresponsive.

While the exact cause of death was not immediately determined, investigators suspect that he died of a heart attack, possibly aggravated by low blood pressure and dehydration.

Shuhail had left the Maldives for India on Sunday and was scheduled to return to the Maldives early on Friday. However, he had also booked flights to travel within India, to Bhopal and Mumbai, before his return, Indian media sources reported.
