The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is extending its bus services between Malé City and Hulhumalé to operate 24 hours a day, offering free rides to college and university students.
In a statement released on Thursday, the transport operator announced that all routes across the country, including those in Malé, Hulhumalé, and Villimalé, will allow students in higher education institutions to travel for free.
Previously, this concession was only available to students in higher secondary education and below. To qualify for the free rides, students must present identity cards issued by their respective institutions.
The 24-hour bus service between Malé and Hulhumalé will operate via the West Park route, providing a convenient commuting option for residents travelling between Malé and Hulhumalé after midnight. Following this change, buses will operate on an hourly schedule along this route.
