Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Chairperson and Opposition Leader Fayyaz Ismail has left for India and Germany to brief stakeholders on the political situation in the Maldives, the party announced on Saturday.
The MDP stated that Ismail will meet with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in both countries to share updates on the evolving political climate in the Maldives.
In June, he attended the annual conference of the Liberal Party in London, an affiliate of the International Democratic Union (IDU), where he was invited to participate in discussions.
The MDP leadership has actively worked to raise international awareness of its concerns about the Maldives’ political environment, with several members engaging foreign stakeholders in recent months.
Ismail’s latest trip highlights the party’s efforts to advocate for its position internationally amid domestic political challenges.
