The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has launched an online platform for individuals to lodge complaints concerning investigations led by the PGO.

Once criminal cases are submitted to an investigating agency, if people are not satisfied with the way the investigation is being conducted, they can now file an online complaint through the portal, Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem wrote on his blog.

“As per the criminal justice system, the Prosecutor General has a responsibility to monitor the work of investigative agencies. Today we are introducing a system where complaints can be sent online,” Shameem said.

Shameem said the complaint will be directed to the prosecutor in charge of the case, and the prosecutor will have to read the form and set an estimated date for a reply.

“They can move from that screen to another screen or to another task after entering a response date. When they enter a response date, the complainant will receive a message explaining that the complaint is being investigated and to expect a response on a certain date,” Shameem said.
