A campaign titled ‘Save FAM,’ aimed at addressing issues plaguing Maldivian football, was launched Saturday evening. The campaign, initiated by former footballers and key stakeholders, held its inaugural meeting at SHE building in Male’.

Led by former Maldivian National team coach Ibrahim Amir with the primary objective of reforming the financially beleaguered Football Association of Maldives (FAM) and revitalising Maldivian football, the campaign has garnered significant attention and support.

Speaking at the inaugural meeting, Amir reaffirmed that he would be committed to this project and that he could not be “influenced or bought.”

The meeting served as a platform to discuss the existing challenges in football and lay the groundwork for the campaign’s future endeavours. Key stakeholders, including former football executives, national team players, and football clubs from both urban and provincial areas attended the event.
