Hulhumale’ Hospital and State Trading Organisation (STO) inked an agreement on Tuesday to expand and enhance the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) services.

At the signing ceremony, both parties expressed their commitment to elevating the quality of healthcare services offered at the hospital, in line with the rising population and demand.

Currently equipped with 17 ICU beds and one operating theatre, Hulhumale’ Hospital has been grappling with increasing pressure due to the surge in patient numbers. The collaboration between the hospital and STO will result in a significant expansion, adding 24 ICU beds, thereby enabling the hospital to better cater to the healthcare needs of the community.

Alongside the ICU expansion, Hulhumale’ Hospital has also announced the addition of five state-of-the-art operating theatres. These specialised facilities will focus on orthopaedic, ophthalmic, gynaecological, and general surgeries, further enhancing the hospital’s surgical capabilities.

In addition to the ICU and operating theatre enhancements, Hulhumale’ Hospital has recently established a mental health centre, an oncology department, and a child development centre, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to addressing a wide spectrum of healthcare needs.
