A 51-year-old Maldivian national, accused of harassing two female flight crew members on an IndiGo flight bound to Bengaluru from Malé, has been arrested by the Indian police. The Indian Express, citing Indian police, identified the individual as Akram Ahmed, who had travelled on IndiGo flight 6E 1128 to Bangalore on Friday for psoriasis treatment.

Ahmed is said to have ordered a beer and cashews on the flight and, initially, verbally harassed a 20-year-old cabin crew member while being served – he then proceeded to inappropriately touch the crew member. He engaged in repeated disruptions throughout the flight, later harassing a second crew member, aged 21.

Indian police confirmed that the Maldivian national had been remanded into judicial custody. During questioning, he attempted to defend himself saying that the airline’s employees were “attractive” which had prompted him to seek “favours” from them, said The Indian Express.
