President Mohamed Muizzu has reshuffled his cabinet by renaming and renewing the mandates of several ministries, as well as transferring ministers to new roles. The changes were formalised during a ceremony at the President’s Office on Thursday morning, where the ministers received their letters of appointment.

The appointments are as follows:

  • Moosa Zameer as Minister of Finance and Planning
  • Ali Haidhar Ahmed as Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development
  • Maryam Mariya as Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare
  • Abdulla Muththalib as Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure

In addition to the cabinet reshuffle, President Muizzu dissolved the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development. The Ministry’s operations and services were transferred under the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure, the President’s Office said in a press statement.

Following the ceremony, President Muizzu met with the newly appointed ministers and emphasised that the coming year would be crucial for the Maldives’ development, with numerous projects in the pipeline, the President’s Office said.
