In a move aimed at improving support for citizens with disabilities, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced a revision to the country’s disability allowance system. The decision, made on Tuesday, comes after consideration by the cabinet, following a proposal put forth by the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services.

The President’s office stated that further details regarding the revised disability allowances, including the introduction of additional benefits, will be disclosed to the media and the public in due course. This marks the first comprehensive revision of the allowance framework since its inception 12 years ago.

According to an official at the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services, the administration recognises the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and aims to promote their well-being.
